This page sets out the terms and policies for using VegaHed — the website (vegahed.com), the app (app.vegahed.com) and the VegaHed browser extension. By creating an account or installing the extension, you agree to what’s below. For the full detail on data handling, see the Privacy Policy.

What VegaHed is

VegaHed is a personal knowledge vault. You save links; we fetch their metadata, categorise them with AI, and make them searchable by meaning. You can turn saved links into tidy short links — private ones for yourself, or public ones to share. The service is provided as-is during early access, and features may change.

Your account

• ·You’re responsible for the activity on your account and for keeping your login secure.
• ·Sign in with email and a password (8+ characters, mixed case, a number and a symbol) or with Google.
• ·You can deactivate your account any time from Settings → Danger Zone. This disables sign-in and deletes your saved records.
• ·We may suspend accounts that abuse the service (see Acceptable use).

Acceptable use

Please don’t use VegaHed to:

• ·Save, host or share links to unlawful content, or content you don’t have the right to share.
• ·Create public short links that mislead, phish, distribute malware, or point to abusive material.
• ·Attempt to break, overload, scrape or reverse-engineer the service, or bypass rate limits and security.
• ·Resell or redistribute the service without permission.

You keep ownership of the links and notes you save. You grant us only the limited permission needed to store, process and display that content back to you (and, for public short links, to anyone you share them with).

Short links

• ·Private links (/my/…) are only reachable when you’re signed in, and don’t expire.
• ·Public links (/to/…) can be opened by anyone with the link and expire automatically 7 days after creation.
• ·We may remove any short link that violates the Acceptable use policy.

The browser extension

The extension has a single purpose: saving the page you’re viewing to your VegaHed vault and managing your short links. It acts only when you use it — clicking the toolbar icon or pressing the save shortcut.

• ·When you save a page, it reads that page’s title and descriptive metadata (roughly 1 KB) so we can file it without re-fetching. It does not read page content beyond that, and does not track your browsing.
• ·It uses your existing signed-in VegaHed session — no separate passwords or tokens are stored by the extension.
• ·Permissions requested are the minimum needed: access to the active tab on save, script injection to read that metadata, storage for a local cache, and notifications for the save shortcut’s fallback message.
• ·It talks only to VegaHed’s own servers. See the Chrome Web Store listing and the Privacy Policy for the full disclosure.

Data & privacy

We collect only what’s needed to run the vault: your account details, the links and metadata you save, and basic operational logs. To auto-categorise a save, a link and its title/description are sent to Google’s Gemini API. We don’t sell your data. The Privacy Policy has the full list of what we store, the third parties involved, and how to delete your data.

Advertising

Some signed-in pages may show ads served by Google AdSense to keep the core service free. Google and its partners may use cookies or device identifiers to serve and measure ads; where required we ask for your consent first. See Google’s advertising policy.

Availability & disclaimers

VegaHed is in early access and provided “as is”, without warranties. We don’t guarantee uninterrupted service, and metadata or AI categorisation may occasionally be inaccurate. To the extent permitted by law, we’re not liable for indirect or consequential loss arising from use of the service. Keep your own copy of anything you can’t afford to lose.

Changes to this policy

We’ll update this page as the product evolves and change the date above when we do. Significant changes may also be announced by email. Continuing to use VegaHed after a change means you accept the updated policy.
